Government Science College Pandhurna      

Government Science College, Pandhurna is the only Government College in this region established in the year 1986. It is a multi-program, multi-faculty educational institution which runs both UG and PG courses in Science as well as Arts and Commerce streams. The foundation stone of the College was laid down by 26th of October 1986. The College celebrated its silver jubilee on 26th of October 2011. Beginning with a small premise near Samta College, Pandhurna, it shifted to the outskirts of the city due to requirement of more space with growing number of courses and students. Now, it stretches to 12 acres of land near ITI, Amravati Road, Pandhurna with tremendous possibilities of growth and expansion. During all these years of its existence, the college has remained affiliated to renowned Universities of Madhya Pradesh viz. Dr.Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar (from 1986 to 2016 ), Rani Durgavati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur (From 2017 to 2019) and is now affiliated to Raja Shankar Shah University, Chhindwara.

Accredited with ‘Grade B’ by NAAC, Bengaluru in the year 2016, the College has many facilities such as virtual classroom, computer room with internet (WiFi) facility, well-furnished and equipped laboratories, sport’s field (10 Acre), parking, botanical garden, library (e-library) with some new additions like conference hall (seating capacity=100), more spacious rooms, and the list shall be getting longer with time.

There are separate academic departments such as those of Botany, Zoology, Physics, Geography and Mathematics. The College has 14 UG and 5 PG courses in Arts stream, 2 UG and 1 PG course in Commerce stream and 8 UG and 5 PG courses in Science stream. In the current session, the College has 400 UG and 155 PG seats in Arts, 85 UG and 40 PG seats in Commerce and 400 UG and 200 PG seats in Science group. Some additional courses like CPLT, CFN, diploma and certificate courses are also run by the College. Many State Government Scholarships like Pratibha kiran, Medhavi Chhatra chhatravritti are availed by the students every year through the College.

The number of faculty members has also increased and regular Professors and Assistant Professors conduct the courses following the latest guidelines of the MP Higher-education and UGC, New Delhi along with inclusion of new ideas, innovations and technology. The Guest faculties appointed through Janbhagidari samiti also plays important role in academics and all other activities related to admissions, examination, administration in the college. The College now proudly has 15 permanent faculty members and 15 guest faculties appointed through Janbhagidari Samiti.

Not only this, students have been getting the benefit of online education in the College where subject experts in Bhopal deliver lectures. The New Education Policy 2020 has been successfully implemented in the College and teaching is done abiding by it in every possible way. Online courses such as those available on the NPTEL-SWAYAM portal have also been promoted in the College, and the College has been made NPTEL local chapter. The College also has IGNOU centre and Bhoj Open University centre, where many distance education courses are being run.

Among its alumni are many well placed and responsible citizens who have been bringing fame in the name of the College. Recently 5 students were selected by renowned companies like Tata Consultancy with the support of Swami Vivekananda Career Guidance and Campus Placement Cell established in the College. In addition to the academic departments, the College has active NSS unit, sports section. Students of the College have been selected for University and state-level sports. The College also takes care of its surroundings and environment. The incumbent College administration is striving hard to convert the vast open space in to beautiful landscaping to provide a green, pollution free and ambient environment. The College is thus reaching new milestones and setting its pace on the path of progress in order to provide quality education to its students and for their overall development.
